(Take note: Relate to the concept of Challenging Sustainability)
Climate change resulted to Global warming in Thailand and it affected Singapore's food sustainability
Thailand is experiencing severe climate change, which includes droughts and variable rainfall (Promchertchoo, 2022). As a result, rice yields are decreased and rice export prices have increased. One of the primary contributors to Thailand's greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming is the cultivation of rice. Singapore had to discover alternative sources of rice imports since rice is a staple food in Southeast Asia, where Thailand is a significant rice producer, and that Thailand's rice production is being affected by climate change (Lin, 2022).
Mitigating the effects of climate change through incorporating climate change measures into national policies, plans, and planning is one of Thailand's top sustainability development goals (United Nations Thailand, 2022). The Thai Rice NAMA(Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action) program (Giz, 2018) addresses many sustainability issues, such as biodiversity and worker safety (Reed, 2020). This helped farmers practice alternate soaking and drying, a sustainable rice farming technique that lowers Thailand's greenhouse gas emissions and promotes water conservation (Reed, 2020).
