Take the key elements of success for the 100-year plus company and The best companies to work for and develop three SMART tactical plans you as a manager could implement for a company. Remember as a manager, you typically will not have the authority to change benefits or change products.

For example if innovation is a key, perhaps as a manager you would Conduct a brainstorming session (specific) once a quarter (time bound) starting first quarter of 20## (timebound) to generate out of the box ideas for improvements (realistic) (attainable or agreed upon) (measurable), or plan for employees to tour companies in different industries once a year to try to synthesize ideas from other industries.

For example, if social responsibility is a key to being successful for many years and a Best Company to work for, a manager could Identify a charity or local organization the company supports and plan two volunteer days a year per employee for my department by 12/30/xx. One or two volunteer days a year is realistic and very attainable. The year timeline and completion date make the goal time bound. The one or two volunteer days a year or named charity is specific.

You cannot use the two examples I provided. You do not have to identify the (specific) etc., I included that to show you how I address each part of SMART with my answer with just one statement.

When you wrrite a SMART goal, the specific, measurable, attainable or agreed upon, realistic and time bound elements are typically inclusive in one or two statements as shown above.

Double check that you have 1-2 concise statements for each goal. Each goal should have a specific/measurable task/activity and specific start or completion calendar date not a general date such as end of year. Frequency such as monthly can be added if appropriate.
