Task 3. Read carefully the following Case Study and answer the given questions:

A network engineer has been given the mission of designing a network for a school using cisco solutions. There are 50 classrooms and 5 Labs. In each classroom, there is one computer. In each Lab, there are 30 computers. The total number of computers in the Staff and administration offices which can be connected to the network is 20. The school has 5 network printers. There will be 3 separate Vlans: Staff, Administration and Students.

The school is aiming to expand and will add more users to its network.

Design requirements:

The engineer must make sure of:

• Redundancy of the links and High availability of the Gateway

• Efficiently connecting the users with the resources they need, regardless of location

• Securing the access to the network

• Using Cost effective solutions

• Student Deliverables:

• The student is required to design a logical network design for this school and complete a number of

  configurations. Task 3.a: Select the type and number of the necessary Layer 2 and Multi-layer switches with a clear explanation.

0. Task 3.b: Mention the Vlan distribution on the access layer switch ports. The answer must include the number of ports assigned to each VLAN on each port with a justification. (The student is not concerned with the ip addressing scheme in this question.)

0. Task 3.c: Explain the importance of Gateway redundancy in the LAN design. Identify at least 3

protocols that can be used to this end.

Task 3.d: On a Distribution Layer switch, configure HSRP.

Task 3.e: With a proper CAD (Computer-Aided Design) tool, create the complete Logical

Network Design that verifies the previous points and including the Server Farm.
