Wash your hands. Place paper on change table. Put disposable gloves on both hands. Approach and alert the child in a respectful manner. Tell the child what's going to happen, allow the child time to finish their play etc. (adapt to individual care routines). Safely pick up and hold baby in preparation for nappy change. Throughout the procedure interact positively and sensitively with the child verbally and non-verbally (enhancing relationships and supporting learning). Nappy Change Remove the child's nappy, place in nappy bag, and put in a hands-free lidded bin. Place any soiled clothes in a plastic bag. Clean the child's bottom. Remove the paper and put it in a hands-free lidded bin. Remove your gloves and put them in the bin. Place a clean nappy on the child. Dress the child - and where age-appropriate, encourage self-help skills. Lift the child safely off the change table. Inform the child that the process is finished and what will happen next.
