An Australian based Web development company is called XYZ Pty Ltd. They currently provide a range of Websites for external customers using Content Management Systems (CMS) they tend to specialize on Wordpress and Drupal.

They are currently working in various industries and the most recently have been awarded a contract by NSW Rural Fire Service to keep track of donation. NSW Rural Fire Service is volunteer organization referhttps://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/

  • NSW Rural Fire Service has operation in only NSW. Other states have comparable operation.
  • The Website module is just facilitating the donation.
  • Some are existing Donors.
  • You need to link to existing website to get details of existing Donors.
  • There are multiple payments including cheque. There is a module for staff to update when it is received and send a receipt by email.
  • As it is tax deductible charity registered by ATO. You need send ATO the doner file with the amounts every tax year about 1 month after the tax year.

Project Objective - Appoint your team to implement a website that is re-usable later by other customers in other states but provides forNSW Rural Fire Serviceto keep track of donations.

It is development project of Content Management System/Extranet website.

Modules needed are:

  • If their previous doner look up doner generated unique id
  • First time donor details (Name, Address, Phone Number & email)
  • First time donor payment amount payment and method
  • First time donor generated unique id
  • First time donor plan selected

Note: there are options of one-off payment and there is option to select regular monthly plan for 12 months or for indefinite period

  • Previous details linked to existing website on donor generated unique id and extract (Name, Address, Phone Number & email; plan selected, payment amount payment and method)

  • Module to facilitate PayPal, Bpay and Credit Card.

  • Module to facilitate Electronic Funds Transfer from Bank Account
  • Module to facilitate cheque
  • Module for staff to confirm when the funds have arrived and provided a receipt by email
  • Module for staff to send doner file to ATO one month after tax year
  • Reports (Donor details, donation amounts per period, etc.)

Triple Constraints:

  1. Scope as per brief
  2. Must be completed in under 3 months
  3. Budget is below $750 K AUD

Desired Outcomes:

  • You need to select the Content Management System of your own choice either WordPress or Drupal and development tools.
  • The system needs to be fully available on secure robust infrastructure in cloud.
  • You need to specify the production environment, that NSW Rural Fire Servicewill provide.
  • Set-up resources (development and test environment) and development teams and project management resources.
  • It requires advanced security appropriate for extranet site and regular back-up.

Purpose: This assessment will allow students to work as a team of 3 or 4, demonstrate their understanding of the basic concepts of PMBOK, specifically creating a:

  • Project Charter
  • Scope Statement
  • Stakeholder Register
  • Risk Treatment Log
  • Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
  • Schedule [Critical Path Management (CPM), Network and Gantt Chart]
  • Budget
  • A group team member contribution log (Report)
