The WHS committee has been asked to review the Emergency Management Procedures for the organisation. These procedures can cover:
- Fire and smoke;
- Personal injury or threat;
- Bomb threats;
- Suspicious mail or package;
- Biohazard or chemical spills;
- Gas leak;
Part A- Report
Your task is to research the current emergency management procedures of the organisation and create a report for the WHS committee about the current policies and procedures that are in place and what needs to be improved, including what you believe is missing from the WHS Policies for Emergency management. You will also need to refer to the Media and communications policy to see how this has an effect on the procedures in times of threat to the organisation.
Your report will need to include:
- Brief overview of the organisation
- Overview of the emergency management policies and procedures
- Where the documentation is kept
- Reporting requirements
- How the information is distributed to workers
- Any areas for improvement
Part B- Presentation
Once you have prepared your report, you will need to present the emergency management procedures to a group of workers in your organisation (your class mates). You will need to inform them of the whole Emergency Management process, including where the policies and procedures are kept, roles and responsibilities, procedures to follow / what to do and any WHS training that is required.
