Teacher Response: Risk management is important. However, while it can't be measured the risk management program and strategies can perhaps be evaluated. For example, if a hospital identifies an issue with regard to personnel looking into charts of patients that he or she is not caring for, then that can create a risk for the organization in terms of HIPAA liability and financial losses. Thus the hospital can have risk management develop a program that includes blocking staff from viewing charts unless they are directly involved in that patient's care. Then the hospital can evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
