From data input to consolidation and reporting, accountants function and operations are dissected in order to identify to what extent the development of new concepts, such as cloud computing, cloud accounting, real-time accounting or mobile accounting may affect the financial-accounting process, as well as the challenges that arise from the changing environment.
Akuzik Ltd, is a family-owned business operating within the agriculture sector. The company was formed in 2019 to focus on value addition of farm produce. The farm produce is quarterly harvested from their irrigation farms across the country. The Akuzik farms are popular due to their superiority in propelling farm and production operations using solar energy.
Akuzik Ltd manufactures exotic juice from raw fruits and sell the juice internationally through their website. The customers are expected to create a web-based account to purchase and access loyalty discounts. Akuzik Ltd use such an opportunity to collect customers preferences and buying behaviours data.
Since, 2019 the company has been experiencing significant growth in revenue and local market share. As of November 2021, their website had over 2.9 billion worldwide customer accounts. Every month about 14 million new customers open their web-based accounts.
The customers with accounts are given an opportunity to express their preferences through likes feedback. Every minute this web-based feedback generates over 4 million likes and in total these likes creates over 4 petabytes of new data every day. Akuzik Ltd uses sophisticated analytical tools to measure this data to create detailed insight into the activity of its website users. This allows their sales team to target specific audiences using precise segmentation tools. In addition to analysing this internal data. Akuzik Ltd also has the capability to identify other websites that a user has visited by tracking cookies located on their individual device. Computer IP addresses and mobile phone tracking technology can even identify a users location.
Akuzik Ltd has its head office and main warehouse situated in the centre of the capital city. This head office supports its area branches; a branch consists of an area office, farm and warehouse. The branches are spread geographically throughout the country; a total of seven area branches are supported.
Currently each Akuzik Ltd area office, farm and warehouse supports and supplies its own customers with the required juice orders. When branch stocks become low, they place a Required Stock Form (RSF) with the head office. On receipt of the RSF, head office despatch the juice from their central warehouse to the appropriate area office. When the central warehouse becomes low on any particular juice (s). Akuzik Ltd would raise outsourcing purchase orders and send them to one of its many smallholders out grower farmer suppliers. Typically, each area office has its own accounting recording system (including the stock recording system), running on locally networked personal computer systems (PCs). RSFs are emailed to head office.
Number of employees have increased from 600 to 3,000 in the last two years
and business has projected that the trend of growth will continue in the future, to meet the increasing demand. Hence, significant increase in the number of employees is anticipated.
