Technology is creating portability of healthcare delivery; i.e., patients are being cared for outside of HSOs and other 'traditional' settings such as back in the home and other residential areas. Acute care hospitals are being affected by this trend, as patients are not showing up in the ED as often as in the past (in areas where such technology exists, of course.) Identify the advantages and disadvantages of this from the standpoint of the HSO and the patient.
