Test different pipe diameters effect on system Turn OFF the pump. Close the gate valve completely. Now remove the hose which goes back into the tank and empty it into a bucket so it drains the water from the system after the valve. Have paper towels ready to wipe up and water spills. Make sure your laptop, the power source and labjack are not in range of any potential water spills!! Now you can install the new sections with reduction unions of 12, 3/8 and 1/4 inch diameter. For each diameter take a pressure, flow and power consumption reading. For each pipe restriction set the pump flow to II (medium constant speed) and to the medium constant pressure setting CP2 (see appendix manual) with the valve fully open and record all data (P, flow and power).

Discuss the influence of area restriction on:

1. flow, pressure and power for constant speed

2. flow and power for constant pressure
