Question 2 (10 marks) Peter pop (Pty) Ltd is a shop that retails in office equipment as well as skateboards. The following expenses were incurred by the company in relation to the patents and design of the skateboard owns a shop which sells water sport equipment. The company also designs and manufactures surfboards. Expenses incurred in the purchase of patent T for customised body guards that are used in skating - R4 000 Expenses incurred in the purchase of design IGT for a skateboard that's is more durable -R 14 700 Expenses incurred for the extension of patent A which the company had bought previously-R 11 000 The company had then decided to start a research and development project as they wanted to produce skateboards that are more user friendly to children. The research and development cost that were incurred complies with the requirements of section 11D and approval for the reproach and development was obtained from the department of science and technology. This new research and development has resulted in the following costs: Equipment for the lab - R 254 000. The equipment was purchased on 30 March 2019 and is used exclusively for the development of the new product. Building purchased - R 147 000. Only 65 % of the building is used for research and development, the remainder of the building is let out at R 14 800 per month You are required to calculate the applicable deductions and allowance for Peter pop(Pty) Ltd for the 2019 year of assessment.
