The 1,320MW Jamshoro coal-fired power plant located in the city of Jamshoro city in Sindh Province, will be the first supercritical coal-fired power plant in Pakistan, once operational in 2023. The project is being developed by Jamshoro Power Company Limited (JPCL) with an estimated investment of $1.5bn. The coal required for the plant will be sourced from the Thar coal field. Each unit is estimated to require 6,800tonne/day of coal including 20% lignite and 80% subbituminous blended coal. Subbituminous coal will serve as the main fuel, while lignite will be blended in the ratio of 10- 20% with subbituminous coal. The coal used at JPCL has the following characteristics: Analysis Constituent Proximate Fixed Carbon Volatile Matter Moisture Ash Carbon Hydrogen Ultimate Sulphur Oxygen Nitrogen Water Energy Experimental (Btu/lbm) Sub-Bituminous (%) Lignite (%) 30.8 (c) Due point temperature of flue gases (d) Higher heating value of blended fuel (e) Lower heating value of blended fuel 45.9 30.5 19.6 4.0 58.8 3.8 0.3 12.2 1.3 19.6 10130 For the 80:20 blended subbituminous coal determine the following: (a) Complete combustion equation in blended form (b) Vapor pressure in stack tube on a standard day 28.2 34.8 6.0 42.4 2.8 0.7 12.4 0.7 34.8 7210
