The acidity or alkalinity of a solution is measured using pH. A pH less than 7 is acidic; a pH greater than 7 is alkaline. The accompanying data represent the pH in samples of bottled water and tap water. Find the Mean, Median and Mode for each type of water in table A only. The table is for tap water 7.64, 7.45, 7.45, 7.22, 7.48, 7.56, 7.52, 7.48, 7.68, 7.52, 7.81, 7.48. For bottled water it is 5.15, 5.40, 5.09, 5.36, 5.13, 5.20, 5.36, 4.78, 5.22, 5.23, 5.24. The question I have is if the pH of 7.22 in tap water was incorrectly recorded as 2.72 this would change the mean pH to 7.15 and the median pH would change to 7.5. What property of the median does this illustrate?
Here are the options: A It illustrates that the median divides the bottom 50% of the data from the top 50%
B: It does not illustrate any property of the median
C: It illustrates the non-resistance of the median
D: It illustrates the resistance of the median.
