The aim of the research report is to develop skills required to investigate different sources of information about one specific issue, and to critically select and analyse primary and secondary data to support your arguments in response to a research question. The research report uses primary data/information (what the person/business says about themselves), secondary research data/information (interpretations from others on the case or the issue) and refereed papers to answer one of the assigned research questions.

In the course of your investigation, you will source and create one specific case example (i.e. one corporation and issue) to illustrate the interaction between the B, S and G sectors, in relation to the issue selected.

Drawing on the concepts and theories studied (The BSP Triangle, Sociological imagination and ethical reasoning, B-S-G Context Development of Capitalism: From Colonialism to Capitalism, The BSP triangle in the global context, Impacts of business on primary stakeholders in the workplace, Impacts of business on the wellbeing of society, Researching positive and negative impacts of business) write a research assignment addressing the impacts of business activities on stakeholders and the actions taken by business, governments and social groups.

  • Literature Review on the research topic/problem (including at least two refereed journal articles published in the last five years) (approximately 600 words). 12
  • Presentation of the original case you create using primary and secondary data sources (including a description and analysis of the incident which the company was involved in in the last three years and an evaluation of the responses from business, government and society (approximately 500 words).
  • Discussion and analysis of the case using theoretical perspectives and BSP concepts from modules 2 &3 to analyse the impact of the business activities on stakeholders (approximately 500 words).
  • Conclusion comprising a synthesis of the main issues discussed and a proposal for better managing the issues in the case (approximately 300 words).
