The Alameda Bridge (see Figure 1) on Alameda Blvd NW crossing the Rio Grande river is one of the major corridors connecting the City of Rio Rancho to the I-25 freeway section in the City of Albuquerque. A cross section chart and a snapshot of the bridge are shown in Figure 2 and Figure 3, respectively. This four-lane bridge (two lanes for each direction) supports the majority of cross-river traffic from the City of Rio Rancho to the City of Albuquerque, e.g. approximately 115,000 vehicles per day. Since the rapid development of the City of Rio Rancho, its population is going to increase up to 140% of the current population in 2035 based on the city transportation demand models.
