The allocation of resources to the military is a majorpolicy choicefor the US.Some think we spend too much for the military and some think not enough.Remember the "Scarcity" and "Opportunity Cost".Our available resources are limited (Scarcity) and therefore there is a tradeoff (Opportunity Cost) each time there is a decision ofwhere to spend the limited resources.

1.First, find out how much currently is spent on military programs and post your findings.

The Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), also known as the Defense Budget, included a total of $738 for the Department of Defense (2020 Defense Budget, 2019). The budget highlighted: pay raises, military construction, family housing, family support, modernization and pro-current, U.S. Space Force, nuclear weapons, treaty obligations, Department of the Veterans Affairs, and so on (2020 Defense Budget, 2019). For FY 2021 President Donald Trump sent a proposed FY2021 budget request On February 10, 2020. The request included $740.5 billion for National Security, allocating $705.4 billion for the Department of Defense (2020 Defense Budget, 2019). The United States spends more on national defense than China, India, Russia, Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, and Brazil - combined (Amadeo, 2020).

2. Based on these findings take a side, either to raise the military budget or to reduce the military budget AND EXPLAIN your reasons You can use the concepts like scarcity, opportunity cost, government involvement (why not privatize instead of using tax money?), or what would be the macroeconomics impacts (both positive or negative) from the spending?You can give examples to explain your thoughts.Remember that whatever we spend on military, the money could be used for something else (opportunity) including your student loans, welfare, healthcare, other social programs and so on.
