It is a time-consuming task at the same time. According to the author, the United States should be aware of the enormous benefits that immigration may provide and should implement measures to fully utilize those benefits. The United States should continue to have an advantage in luring talent from throughout the globe. The author offers six policy suggestions in this regard.

Recommendations:

First, Congress should change the focus of U.S. immigration policy from family reunification to employment-based migration while preserving or increasing current flows of legal immigration. The H-1B high-skilled visa program requires expansion, according to Congress. The per-country caps ought to be dropped by Congress, third. The first two will increase the United States' capacity to produce skilled workers and more effectively meet the talent requirements of businesses. The current H-2A and H-2B temporary worker programs need to be revised, which brings us to our final point. Fifthly, Congress needs to establish a route for illegal immigrants to obtain citizenship through work.

The enforcement of immigration rules must be improved by Congress, to finish. A deeper link between the US and Mexico should be established as well.
