this is the task: Training document on how the criminal justice system deals with young offenders.

One of the services that the charity provides is a mentoring service that links up young people in Croydon with university students. The student mentors often have limited experience of the criminal justice system and so you have been asked to produce a training document that:

• Explains the difference sentences available to youth courts to deal with young offenders - you can use flowcharts, tables or diagrams to set out information, but make sure you explain them, don't just state facts
• Evaluates the key aims behind sentencing policy (i.e., why are these sentences used? What are the arguments in favour of using these sentences and what are the counter-arguments? What are the basis of these arguments e.g. research-based, historic, practical/economic, political?)
