1. Cigarette Smoking Data To study the effect of cigarette smoking on platelet aggregation, blood samples were col- lected from 11 individuals before and after they smoked a cigarette and the percentage of blood platelet aggregation was measured. Platelets are involved in the formation of blood clots, and it is known that those who smoke suffer more from disorders involving blood clots than those who do not (Levine, P. H., 1973). The dataset is presented in "cigarette.txt" (a) Test the null hypothesis that there is no effect of cigarette smoking on blood platelet aggregation at 10% level of significance. Make sure you state the hypotheses, justify the choice of the test, and draw proper conclusion. (b) For the test in (a) state and test for any assumptions used (c) If for the time being we assume the before and after measurements to be independent, i.e., coming from two independent populations, test that there is no difference in average platelet aggregation between the two populations. Use = 0.10. Once again, state the hypotheses, justify the choice of the test used, and draw an appropriate conclusion (d) For the test in (c) state and test for any assumptions used
