The Attorney General of Florida filed a criminal suit against Midway Debt Collection alleging they used "spoofed" telephone numbers to make it look like they were calling from a person's local county courthouse. It was also alleged that the company used tactics which included harassing consumers, making false threats and identifying themselves as being from attorneys' offices, which were fake.

The company was co-owned by Kenneth Newman and Betsy Daniels who was well aware of the practice of their company and encouraged the illegal tactics. Using IRAC determine who responsible for the acts committed in this case.
