The Bacha Posh in Afghanistan is an extreme case of women seeking empowerment in a very traditional society. With the recent ascension of the Taliban to power, women are being strongly encouraged to keep their traditional roles with all that this implies. In this context, chances are that this will lead to a very drastic decrease in Bacha Posh occurrences, as household may risk drastic penalties if discovered. Won't this be a blessing in disguise? Girls won't need to fake something that they are not, and their long-term mental health won't suffer. Do you agree or disagree with this hypothesis?
