Dear Wolfgang,

Thank you for your work again on the acquisition of HSL and our conversion to PLC status. We are getting used to the additional administrative burdens which being a PLC gives rise to. I suspect there will be even more if we become quoted in a few years' time, but we will worry about all those Listing, Disclosure and Transparency Rules then!

We know that we are past the size where we can file abridged accounts and reports or get audit exemptions, but it would be helpful to have brief up-to-date guidance on what reports (as opposed to accounts) we do need to prepare or obtain when producing our annual accounts. I think there is a definition of "annual accounts" in the Companies Act 2006 - I'm sure you'll know where.

A table or a list or something similar will do fine. Don't worry about the detailed content of them - we'll get the accountants to look at those - but it would be helpful to know in outline what reports have to be produced and a bare outline of what they must address. I don't want chapter and verse, but I would like the basic requirements and the provisions of the legislation which say so.

Two points of detail I would like you to identify, however; could you let me know:

• whether we need to produce some sort of statement about corporate governance or a formal corporate governance statement;
• whether we need to include our energy consumption and CO2 omissions.

Again, you don't need to set out every detail - just let me know whether we need to produce these things or not, and where the legislation says so. In case you need to know, we now have over 700 employees in the group, and our turnover is 75 million. We consume about 1 million kWh of electricity a year. Heaven knows how much CO2 it equates to, but it makes a good sound!
