The Case of Dev Dev is a 13-year-old transgender Muslim boy of Indian descent living in the U.S. Dev has also seen a shift in support from his parents who have also benefited from interactions with the clinical social worker. Dev continues to face significant shame and frustration associated with his developing female body and remains frustrated that his parents are not willing to consider the use of hormone blockers that would prevent the physical development of adolescence. Dev has found growing acceptance in a small group of LGBTQ+ students at school, some of whom he first met online. His most recent work with the clinical social worker has centered on the social arena of school and how Dev wants to assert his male-identity there.
