Create a project work breakdown structure (WBS). Use the tasks identified below as work packages under the four major headings.

Background:

The CEO of ESP Consulting has decided to move his company to a new, more spacious location across town. This move is intended to support the company’s expected growth and provide ESP Consulting more access to its customer base.

Steve Spaniels, the facilities manager, has called you into his office to discuss the move. You have received basic guidance from Steve about the needs of the move:

Relocate the entire office of 200 people to a new office building across town.

Purchase and installation of items for the new building is part of the project’s responsibility.

Removal of items not being moved and general cleanup of the old office space is outside the scope of this project.

Moving of all large, heavy items will be outsourced to a professional moving company.

IT plans to replace all computers and servers with updated technology.

The move is scheduled for the last week in July.

After the meeting, you agree to create a WBS for the project. You have broken the move into four major headings:

Project Planning

Pre-move Activities

Moving Activities

Post-move Activities

Tasks that you have identified for the project: Decide on new furniture; office preparation; kick-off meeting; set up utilities; build out of the new facility; initial planning for overall project; actual move of existing furniture and files; installation of new communication equipment, servers, and computers; pack-out of existing office files, supplies, and material; installation of new signs; and project closeout activities.
