The college is getting ready to publish the honour roll for the fall semester, and I've just had a thought. As you know, anybody who gets an average of 80% or better is on the honour roll for the following semester, but I'm wondering whether this is fair, since some programs are harder to do well in than others.
For example, last semester, the average mark for students in social sciences was 68% and the standard deviation was 15%. In science, the average was 70%, with a standard deviation of 10%. I think the student body would like to know whether it's tougher to get on to the honour roll in social science or in science.
Could you write a post stating whether it is harder to get on the honour role in social science or in science? Thanks,
