The coronavirus pandemic has changed the way we seek entertainment in lives. The most obvious changes are that most of us now have less outings. This has limited our exposure to outer world! We have less interaction overall with people outside of the people we live with, and we spend more time on OTT, satellite/cable TV, and other platforms. A survey of 2000 people were conducted to know about the preferred type of entertainment by different age groups post pandemic. The results are summarized in a cross-classification table below:
Age Group OTT Auditorium Home Others Total
Y (25-40 years) 410 240 80 50 780
X (41-56 years) 235 365 50 20 670
Z (57-75 years) 85 165 25 55 330
S (76 and above) 45 135 15 25 220
Total 775 905 170 150 2000
a) At 5% level of significance, is there evidence of a relationship between age group and type of communication preferred from the above data?
b) Through adequate simulations, Can you check whether the Chi-Square distribution under the null hypothesis (H0) is reasonable in this problem?
