The Corporate Law and Economic Reform Programme (CLERP 9) 2004 proposed reforms to improve and maintain the independence of auditors in carrying out their assurance engagement. One of these reforms is that audit partners responsible for a particular organization must be rotated after every 5 years. It is argued that this requirement is not sufficient to improve the independence of auditors and that the audit firm should be rotated instead of audit partner.
