Every business needs big picture thinkers who formulate winning strategies. In drafting a strategy that will form the big picture, an organization must consider culture, mission, and purpose.

A strategy allows an organization to focus on the big picture. Simply put, a strategy is the charted winning course for a company. It will help a business leader scan beyond the horizons of the industry to look at the future, the current players, likely new entrants, and the world at large. Culture is the underlying and indiscernible platform on which organizations run. Thus, beliefs, ideologies, behaviors, and emotional commitment are the aspects of culture that are crucial in the development and execution of business strategy (Maria et al., 2018). A strategy that does not align with organizational values, principles, and commitment can never function. Moreover, organizations that post impressive results are mostly driven by their missions and purposes (Craig, 2018). The core objective of strategic planning is to match a corporation's mission with its strategy. Without purpose and mission, the strategy exists in a vacuum, as the purpose is the beginning place for preparing the big picture; the corporate strategy is the blueprint that lets companies achieve milestones (Ahmed, 2019). Nonetheless, an organization might need to consider the dynamic nature of the business environment. For instance, strictly focusing on the mission might result in obsoleteness, especially when there are critical business changes in the industry.

The big picture must be guided by strategy. A strategy can only be successful if aligned with aspects such as values, commitments, and principles of the corporate culture. Furthermore, a mission should be matched to the strategy but at the same time flexible to allow for changes.
