The Cummins QSK95 diesel engine has a continuous service rating of 2386kW at 1500rpm, and a stated fuel consumption of 556 l/hr of heavy fuel oil (s.g. 0.994; Calorific Value 43.4MJ/kg). The engine is a V16 4-stroke turbocharged engine with a bore of 190mm and a stroke of 210mm. (i) (ii) Calculate the thermal efficiency If the air-fuel ratio is 27:1, calculate the volumetric efficiency Based on ISO inlet conditions of 15C, 1 bar. Treating the fuel as C4H30, calculate the number of kmols of air required per kmol of fuel at the operating AFR.
