the Delta 191 crash at DFW in the summer of 1985. This accident was the microburst eye-opener on the northeast side of the DFW airport. More remarkable was an isolated afternoon thunderstorm caused this. ATC gave little concern to this small thunderstorm, especially the large, wide-bodied Delta L 1011 aircraft crew. The experienced flight crew could see the thunderstorm but gave little regard to how it could affect them. However, it was the cold air from the microburst coming out of the thunderstorm that the aircraft could not fly through.
