The discussion can be considered the main substance of the paper. It contains a very brief restatement of the conclusions and relates them to the original research question stated in the introduction. It addresses whether the results were congruent with those predicted by the research hypothesis and addresses reasons why that is so. If the expected results were not obtained, the discussion will state why that is so. This may include methodological limitations, sources of errors, logical flaws, and other factors; you will apply critique methods to your own study.

In this section, you will also address how the obtained results fit in with the existing knowledge about your topic. Finally, you will state how your findings could be applied, extended, or improved.

Post-traumatic stress disorder has been a common diagnosis amongst Veterans. Throughout the years of war, the names have changed. Once identified as hysteria, shell shock and combat fatigue. Post-traumatic stress disorder: PTSD for short, developed in many whom have experience or just bear witness to a traumatic event, causing that event to literally be relive in one's mind. Veterans suffer from both combat and sexual trauma. Most common symptoms are nightmares, flashbacks, self-destructive behaviors, isolation, complications with their relationships both platonic and intimate.

Although commonly diagnosis amongst veterans, research on effective treatment has become a high priority according to the VA's National Center for PTSD. Recently, the VA and the DOD announced $100 million allocated to improving and treatment for PTSD and mild traumatic brain injury. Although research in effective treatment methods for posttraumatic stress disorder amongst the veteran community has remain a priority, many studies have not been done on implementation of behavioral psychotherapies where taking a significant event that will stimulate or reverse the perspective of the traumatic event. It has been reported that a person can themselves right into the very sickness they believe they have. Could we use the same method to change the Veterans perspective on PTSD?

Post-traumatic stress disorder in the Veteran's community has been remain a priority and hundreds of thousands of dollars have been allocated to researching effective treatment methods. Research shows that research focused on pharmacotherapy and psychological treatments. Even with a focus on combining the two treatment methods together. With numbers of veterans with diagnosis of PTSD on the rise, numbers of Veterans seeking both methods of treatment has decreased.

In this section of my findings, I will discuss multiple research methods and their respective results and how they apply to my hypothesis that although research for effective treatment has remained a priority; the types of treatment has remained limited, and this may be the reason why Veterans are not seeking treatment at a higher rate. When natural based treatment (NBT) is being funded and studied at the same rate as psychological therapies and pharmacological medicine, numbers of Veterans seeking treatment will increase.

Inthis ths study research aimed to show that when treated in residential setting length of stay was associated with the severity of symptoms at discharged and whether symptoms at discharged had an impact on whether outpatient treatment was utilized from Veterans. Prior to the admission, the selected Veterans received monitored telephone interventions/interviews

Types of Subjects

The study included 740 Veterans with previous resdiental treatment between the years of 2006-2009, spread across five different VA hospitals. In this study 86.7% where males and 63% were white and 21.7% were black, 5.5% Latino, 2.4% between Native American and Alaskan Native and 7.4% were listed as other or missing. Participants marital status was a factor finding that 43.7% married, 38.1 divorced, 2.6 widowed, 14.7 never married and .9 missing. The study broke down when each veteran serviced as well. Showing 59.1% Vietnam and prior, 30.7% serviced in Gulf war to current, 8.2% served in multiple eras making 81.8% of those numbers actually served in a war zone. Also out of the 740 Veterans, 20.5 had experience sexual trauma in the military and 68.5 were service-connected PTSD.

Data collection was collected from PTSD Checklist Specific (PCL) which were scored on a 5 point Likert scale and a 17-item self-reporting measure of past PTSD symptoms using the Dsm-IV diagnostic criteria in the pass month.

All participants gave written consent to participate in this study along with procedures of the study being approved by institutional review boards. I find that much significant data was missing from the study. Such as details of programs used in all five VA hospitals. If natural based programs based on Longer Lengths of stay would have detetermined a more targeted research on whether holistic and natural methods do have a positive effect when treating PTSD.
