The doctrine of consideration has been subject to criticisms and there is a great deal of debate prompting for the replacement of the doctrine by various other doctrines in the law of contract. Consider to what extent if any of these doctrines and/or Act of parliament have been effective and has proven to replace the doctrine of consideration: 1. Doctrine of intention to create legal relations. 2. Doctrine of intention to be bound 3. Doctrine of economic duress 4. Doctrine of promissory estoppel 5. Contract (Right of Third Parties) Act 1999.
