Talisa's application for a scholarship to study Law at University of Teakettle has been refused by the Committee, while that of her cousin Devon is granted. Talisa is most upset because both herself and Devon obtain the same A level results and the financial circumstances of their families are the very same. Her request for reasons for the Committee's decision is refused, though she is reliably informed that certain committee members preferred not to give scholarship to two people from the same family, while others also expressed the view that too many women are getting on while the young men are being left behind.
