The Elements of National Power Which of the elements of national power do you think may yield the most influence if used correctly? Explain your answer with examples and cited sources. DIME is the acronym for diplomacy, information, military, and economics. It's based on the nations ability to wield one or all of the powers to prevent or engage in war, or to push or control their national agenda based on their socio-economic conditions. The ability of the US to advance its national interests is dependent on the effectiveness of the U.S. Government in employing the instruments of national power to achieve national strategic objectives, (The Lightning Press, n.d.). The national power element I feel yields the most influence if used correctly would be economics. Though all other elements of national power are important, they don't hold as much weight in comparison, and here's why. Managing international relationships can be powerful, leveraging what's best for our respective country while allowing a level mutual gain between another country covers diplomacy but without any assets to leverage or offer to another when seeking diplomacy, our ability to be diplomatic can fall flat. Having a powerful military could yield great influence, but take a country like Russia for example. What else do they have besides a powerful military? They suffer economically, hurting their own people as a result of their bullying tactics against other world leaders, and have no solid international relationships with others. Information seems the least critical of the national powers.
