The evidence of growth I see in the photo includes fine motor skills, eye hand coordination, and creativity. Based on what I see in the photo I would say this child is in the early stages of art skills as he seems to be painting on himself also and mixing all the paint colors in the containers. He also doesn't seem to be making anything in particular but instead more of a scribbling. I would be curious to know what he says about his painting when asked by the teacher? Is he simply putting colors onto a canvas or does he actually have something in mind he is attempting to creat?
