It's Just a Matter of Timing Case Study

Teresa was prone to tackle difficult situations by herself (self-efficient) and demonstrated strong problem-solving skills. In her role, she developed managerial skills by managing the company. She was advised of the organization's financial challenge however; the information presented at the time of the job offer, was not actuality. She identified areas of the business that prevented revenue and resolved the financial deficit. She resolved customer complaints and collected debts in effort to achieve the organization's financial goal. She developed a business process to make the company more competitive. Teresa learned that each job has something that makes you want to quit but if this is the career pattern there will be a stressful employment life.

The motivation and nurturing approach could be another option to quitting for Teresa, without a backup plan. Teresa should schedule a meeting and have open dialogue with documents to support her argument. The manager appears be motivated by esteem. His esteem needs involve the desire to feel good by spending large sums of money. According to Maslow, esteem needs include feeling self-confidence and valued by others, for example, purchasing a large home to appear superior. The manager may consider halting the purchase of a new home if Teresa could persuade him, with his great sales reputation, growth could double and have less tax penalties. Teresa can continue to be the solution maker and even more valuable human capital. Yet, this is a negative situation, she can present positive solutions.

Situational factors such as the employer providing inaccurate, deceitful financial information and having lack of financial responsibility, could be factors for developing a negative perception. She could use this as a learning experience. Researching the company and discussing with others prior to making a decision, could have possibly resulted differently. Now that she has been in the company and made a dramatic change, she could analyze the previous occupation with the current occupation such as salary, location, company longevity, company growth ability and manager relation. Considering, Teresa has management experience, she may consider starting a business. Teresa reacted to the situation without critical thinking in accepting the job offer and in deciding to quit. You will at some point definitely face challenges, problems at your workplace.

As an outsource consultant, a recommendation would be to retain an independent contractor to resolve all human resources operations to include training. It is clear that the manager has social dominance orientation and is not concerned with the financial stability of the company. Teresa is motivated by achievement and could be a good fit for the organization with a few tweaks. Corrective behavior is needed in the organization in efforts to gain a competitive. The customer complaints should be outsourced to a call center to resolve such issues expeditiously.
