The final company application paper assignment is to examine an organizational restructuring. You have the option to choose an organization or assess your own. Based upon your case information, you will briefly identify and assess the issues (such as the cultural, structural, strategic, leadership, management and human resource concerns) that led or lead to a need for change. From the perspective of an organizational development professional, you will then present a model for instituting planned change based upon the concepts learned in class. Your assessment should include how you would enter the organization, conduct a diagnosis of the organizational situation, work with the leadership team in understanding what the diagnosis is suggesting, identify your choice of interventions and why you have selected these interventions. You will also identify your role as an intervener and how would you engage the organization in planning and executing change, what would be some of the tradeoffs and techniques you would utilize for increasing probability of success and lastly, how would you help the organization institutionalize the change. If you choose an organization outside your own, you can begin researching in business magazines such as Fortune, Business Week, Industry Week, etc. You will want to begin your assignment by first, fully describing the company and its issues. This information will constitute your foundation for further analyzing what you would do differently and why your planned change strategy would be different. Your assessment, assumptions and proposed alternative change strategies must be supported by references to the literature. It is expected that your paper will incorporate a minimum review of 5 peer-reviewed articles to support your discussion and analysis.
