The financial market is a general term describing a marketplace where issuers, buyers and sellers of financial assets come together to trade. Major corporations would tend to access and utilize all the four markets to run their operations. a) Assume you are a Chief Financial Officer of a public listed company in Malaysia called PADINI. It is an international clothing manufacturing and reseller catering to the consumer market. Explain how you would leverage on all four markets indicated in Diagram 1 to obtain different sources of funds for PADINI, as well as to manage the cash flows of the company. b) Explain and discuss when it would be more appropriate for a company to obtain sources of funds for business purposes through financial intermediaries such as banks instead of the financial market. c) Explain ways on how the government reduces the problem of adverse selection and moral hazard in the financial market. d) Describe how financial institutions such as mutual funds and insurance companies help individual investors access the four financial markets listed in Diagram 1
