The First Amendment provides:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

With respect to religion, the First Amendment is divided into two sections: one dealing with the establishment of religion and another with the free exercise of religion.

1) Do you think sports teams that have religious names, logos or mascots be changed? Discuss why.

2) Discuss the three tests used for evaluating whether a state actor violated the Establishment Clause in sports cases.

3) Provide a real world example of how free exercise clause of religion has impacted professional sports over the past 10 years.
