The following materials were charged in a blast furnace to produce per ton of hot metal. Pellets: 1436 Kg 7.1% SiO2 0.01 % S Coke: 408 Kg 4% SiO2 0.08% S Enough CaCO3 was added to have a slag basicity of 1.0. Equilibrium between carbon saturated iron, slag and gas phase was achieved (i.e. primary reactions were in equilibrium) at 1400 oC. Hot metal contains 1% Si and the slag phase has 10 % Al2O3.

a. Calculate weight of the slag produced for per ton of hot metal.
