The following two events were observed to occur along with each other (both of which tend to grow over time) over the last 50 years.

1.The amount of beer consumed in the pubs of Melbourne and;

2.The amount of rice eaten in the restaurants of Tokyo.

Discuss these two events in relation to correlation versus causation.
