The goal of this online assignment is to get you familiar with the NAEYC Standards of Quality for Early Childhood Programs. You will visit a website, review two documents that I have posted on the class website, and post a short reflection.

1. Read Chapter 5.(CHILD, FAMILY, SCHOOL, AND COMMUNITY:SOCIALIZATION AND SUPPORT (EDITION 10)BY BERNS)
2. Familiarize yourself with the NAEYC website at http://www.naeyc.org/Links to an external site.;
3. Review the NAEYC Overview of the Standardsfor Early Childhood Programs, which I have included on the class website under readings;
4. Briefly review the specific Accreditation Criteria Assessmentfor Standards 1(Relationships), 2(Curriculum), 7(Families), 8(Community Relations), and 9(Physical Environment).
5. Based on your review of the 5 standards:
   1. Briefly discussa standard (name the standard number, e.g., 2D.2,and summarize it) that surprised you or one that you would pay attention in a PK program for your child or a child in your family.
   2. Identify a criteria that helped you understand a specific conceptdiscussed in Chapter 5. Explain how? (cite textbook with page numbers & related NAEYC assessment criteria, e.g., 2D.3).
