The Golden State Warriors set a National Basketball Association (NBA) record in the 2015-16 season by winning 73 games and losing only 9 games during the regular season. In this study, we are interested in the topic of free throws. These are shots awarded to a team for certain fouls made by its opponent. Free throws are taken at a set distance (15 feet) from the basket with no opponent allowed to defend the shot. This produces a consistent environment for comparing shooting effectiveness. The variable of interest in this study is the number of free throws attempted by the Warriors in each of the 82 regular season games. Consider the 82 regular season games as a sample from the population of all games played by the Warriors during the entire season. Over the past ten years, NBA teams have averaged close to 25 free throw attempts per game. We are interested in investigating whether the mean number of free throw attempts by the Warriors in the overall 2015-16 season is much different from 25
