The presentation must have:
- A clear introduction introducing your chosen real-world problem
- Be focused on the analysis of the 2 media sources and provide specific examples
- Discuss the key points made in the 2 sources
- Discuss similarities & differences in the group member's interpretations of each source
- Discuss your evaluation of the sources for:
Credibility: Judge each text's credibility
Larger Context: Put each text in a larger context as to background, history, social & political climate, & then compare the message from each text with what you may know about the issue from other sources
Quality of Reasoning: Assess the quality of the reasoning & factual support for stated conclusions. Are inferences consistent with the tone & the overall message of each source?
Assumptions Assessment: Are the assumptions behind the arguments reasonable?
Conclusions Assessment: Do the conclusions flow logically from the stated facts & arguments?
Values & Beliefs Assessment
- Discuss how each source challenge your beliefs & values?
- Discuss to what extent you are as a group persuaded by each source
- Discuss to what extent you are as a group forced to re-examine your assumptions?
- Make reference to the sociological/ research methodology literature, course content, textbook, etc.
- Have a clear conclusion
- Every group member must contribute to the finished presentation and present a portion of it in-class. Create a Power Point presentation (max 15 slides) to assist you with the delivery of the presentation.
- For time keepingeach presentation slide should on average have max 1-2 min explanation.
- Each group member should create a clear script of their portion of presentation (what you will actually say with specific examples and references to sources) in a word document
- Have at least 5 sources/ references for the presentation
