The Heart pumping blood out of the heart. The right ventricle pumps blood to the lungs where it is oxygenated. While the ventricle is pumping blood out of the heart, the atrium fills with blood entering the heart. This efficient design allows the atrium to quickly refill the emptied ventricle, resulting in a fast- pumping heart. Atrium and Ventricle of the Right Pump 369 Oxygenated blood from the lungs enters the atrium of the left heart pump. This blood is then moved into the left ventricle which pumps the blood to all of the body tissues (except the lungs). The left pump has to work harder than the right pump.
