The Highway Traffic Act has many offences that can only be committed by "drivers". These sections start out with wording like, "no person shall drive (or operate) a motor vehicle....." By contrast, many other sections apply to people who are NOT drivers (could be a passenger, pedestrian, at M.T.O. office, owner of the car, etc). STEP ONE: Post a "driver" offence AND an offence that can be committed by someone other than a driver. Use the index at the front of your HTA book. Hint: USUALLY "Rules of the Road" applies to drivers only. Offences for other individuals can be found throughout the HTA. Use the elaws link on this weeks home page to copy and paste the wording for each charge. STEP TWO: Using the Provincial Offences Wordings and Fines [found in the textbook] look up the wording for these two charges, that you would put on a ticket issued for these offences AND post the fine and points lost upon conviction for these two offences.
