The idea of the project is to take the knowledge and background you are learning this semester about power system protection and put it to good use in a creative manner. Take the projects from the following and develop a working prototype with suitable user interface based on a microprocessor/microcontroller/PLC; Overcurrent (o/c) relay Instantaneous o/c relay - Definite time o/c relay Inverse time o/c relay (IDMT, very inverse, extremely inverse) o Over voltage relay o Under voltage relay o Differential protection (current) No matter what project you choose, a high quality implementation is expected. You will have five stages or deliverables 1. Must form a team and settle on a project. 2. We will hold a poster session in class in which you can display your different project ideas to get feedback. 3. Shortly after the poster session you will submit a detailed design document. 4. You will give demonstration of your project to the instructor and TA during last two weeks of classes. 5. Submit a detailed report of the project from design to final implementation including figures, your observations and measurements, equations, graphs, pictures, simulations, hardware descriptions (with cost) and working. The format of the report is attached as Annex-A.
