The Idea:
The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) allows individuals and families to purchase private health insurance coverage through health insurance exchanges or "marketplaces." Health care and health insurance is very expensive in the United States. The United States is the only large industrialized nation that does not guarantee universal health care for its citizens. While the United States has excellent health care facilities and health technology, accessing healthcare remains difficult for lower income individuals. This results in a reduced lifespan, increased infant mortality and lower overall measures of health in the US workforce.
Health insurance is not only expensive for US individuals, it is expensive for the US government as well.
