The incident Command System (ICS) provides field-level personnel with a set of integrated polices and procedures to improve emergency response operations. ICS structure relies on four primary officers: the Incident Commander (IC), the Public Information Officer (PIO), the Safety Officer (SO), and the Liaison Officer (LO). Supporting the field-level officers are four organizational sections: Planning, Operations, Logistics, and Finance / Administration. These sections fulfill important pre-planning and post-event functions. The ICS has its strengths and weakness. What strengths would you list to advocate for use of the ICS system? What weaknesses would you list to advocate against it? Would you argue for or against adopting the ICS for your local community?
