The intention of this memo is to outline the expectations that human resources (HR) will need to follow in regard to union representation. All HR staff need to familiarize themselves with this memo to continue our efforts in understanding and contributing to helping our fellow union representation. As we welcome the union remember that the workplace will no longer be controlled by management and employer only. Keep in mind that in a unionized environment, employees have the right to negotiate contracts, wages, work schedules, promotions, and more. As a reminder the National Labor Relations Act prohibits employers in interfering with the rights of forming, joining, assisting, working together, and organizing a labor union and collective bargaining (NLRB). Please be aware of what legally and illegally can be said while working with the union
